Vladimír Mikeš Earns a Nomination for the Josef Škvorecký Award

Translator and writer Vladimír Mikeš and his book The Bad Place, published by Plus, belongs to five finalists nominated for the Josef Škvorecký Award.

The Bad Place mixes elements of Kafka’s humor with an oppressive atmosphere, that may remind some of the books by Egon Hostovský. It was released by Plus in March of this year as a second volume of a new Czech series. Known as one of the most respected translators from Romance languages, Vladimír Mikeš wrote his novels into the desk-drawer, keeping them secret even to his friends.
