Thirteen Golden Ribbon Nominations for Albatros Media

With 10 nominations, Albatros Publishing dominated the 2012 Golden Ribbon the best writers, translators and illustrators of children’s and young adult literature. Albatros Media imprints CooBoo and Plus also scored great success. The winner will be announced at the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague, on July 6.

Albatros books met with success in nearly all of the graphic and literary categories—especially in the area of graphic works for older children and young adults, where Grandpas, Dragon Soup and Baba Yaga Bone Leg nabbed three out of four nominations. Two Albatros books were nominated for Best Graphic Work of the Year: Christmas: Pilgrimage to Bethlehem and Images from Czechoslovak History. This year’s Magnezia Litera winner, The Postman Wind, also has a chance to pick up a Golden Ribbon in the category of Children’s Literature. Dragon Soup and Knots and Oranges are both competing for the Young Adult prize.

CooBoo Publishing has two Golden Ribbon nominations for translations, while Plus Publishing is receiving a special award for the diaries of Hana Bořkovcová: I'm Writing With the Notebook Resting on My Knees.

The contest is organized by the Czech division of IBBY, the Club of Children’s Book Illustrators, the Czech Literary Translators’ Guild and The Museum of Czech Literature.
