Illustrator Zdenek Miler Deceased
The illustrator Zdenek Miler died but Little Mole and other his characters live on. For the larger part of his professional life Zdenek Miler
cooperated with Albatros publishing house. He died on November 30 at the age of 90.
“Mr. Miler was very thorough and he loved being in touch
with the process of making books. He always checked the cover designs and illustration press proofs. We used to bring them home and later to the
sanatorium for him. He loved being part of the process up to its very end,” says Alexandra Horova, the art director with Albatros Media a.s. “What
is more, he made a lovely company, often talking about his old times in Albatros and his late friends and colleagues.”
Zdenek Miler and
Albatros share the success of more than 5,000,000 copies sold and 25 titles published and translated into 22 languages. For more than 50 years
children have favoured his Little Mole character, both on paper and screen. Little Mole books and films have a tremendous success both in the Czech
Republic and abroad.
On behalf of the whole team of the Albatros publishing house and the company Albatros Media a.s. we would like to express
our deepest condolences to Ms. Emilia Milerova, Mr. Miler’s daughters and other family members.
