Amelie II and its Competition

Amelie and the Darkness, Petra Neomillnerová’s first children’s book, was a tremendous success with readers and critics alike. This year the book was nominated for IBBY’s prestigious Golden Ribbon in the young adult category. The book hit shelves in December 2012 and within two months the first printing sold out. Albatros immediatelly issued a reprint, and agreed with the author to publish another story about the mysterious Amelie and her friend Markéta. September of this year will see the publication of Amelie and the Color World. For now, children can write their own version of the story and send it to Albatros as part of a contest.

“The story demands a sequel. The author has turned in the first few pages, and again they promise an exciting and mysterious, yet sweet, story. This time they will face the problems that accompany first love,“ revealed Ondřej Muller, Albatros Media’s program director, who encouraged Petra Neomillnerová, the popular author of fantasy novels for adults, to write for children.
